OBJECTIVE / PURPOSE

Provides strategic and results-driven leadership of the organizations Inside Sales and District Sales teams. Manages & develops high-performing sales teams and implements effective sales strategies in the B2B & B2C e-commerce and/or consumer packaged goods space. The Sales Director will play a pivotal role in expanding our market presence, fostering customer relationships, and achieving sales targets. Manages several salespeople operating in different models simultaneously.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS
  1. Team Leadership & Development:
    1. Lead, mentor, inspire, and recruit (when necessary) a team of 5+ Inside Sales and District Sales professionals.
    2. Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide ongoing coaching and training to help team members to realize their full potential.
  2. Sales Strategy and Planning
    1. Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve company revenue goals.
    2. Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities.
    3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align sales strategies with overall and segment-specific business objectives.
    4. Build relevant professional 3rd-party partnership strategy to connect and build customer credibility.
  3. Revenue Generation
    1. Drive achievement of sales targets and key performance indicators (KPIs).
    2. Implement effective sales processes and optimize sales funnel metrics conversion rates.
  4. Customer Relationship Management
    1. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with school districts and educational institutions as appropriate.
    2. Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by driving excellent service, solution orientation, and responsiveness from the team.
  5. Sales Analytics
    1. Utilize data-driven insights to evaluate sales performance, identify improvement areas, and inform decisions.
    2. Implement and leverage sales analytics tools to track and report on key performance metrics.
  6. Collaboration
    1. Work closely with Marketing, Product Development, and Customer Service teams to align efforts and drive overall business success.
    2. Collaborate with senior leadership to provide input on business strategy and market trends.
  7. Champion Company Culture
    1. Comply with company policy for safeguarding customer & corporate proprietary information.
    2. Work collaboratively with colleagues to enable team success beyond just personal success.
    3. Help drive positive strategic, process, and cultural changes throughout the organization.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor’s degree (business, marketing, or related field) required. MBA preferred.

Experience:
  • 10-15 years proven sales experience required (educational supplies &/or ecommerce industry experience a plus)
  • 4-6 years proven sales team leadership experience including people development skills required
  • B2B & B2C experience leading 2 or more sales teams with different go-to-market strategies simultaneously
  • Sales experience across more than 1 industry
Specialized Training/Skills:
  • Passion for leading & developing people to be their best
  • Sales-driven & customer-centric with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Professional Selling Skills (PSS) training preferred but not required
  • Excellent communication, influence, & interpersonal skills

  • Familiarity with CRM systems & sales tools
