JOB SUMMARY
The Cardiovascular Clinic Receptionist provides a vital link in the chain of Quality of Care; the receptionist supports the clinic by serving as first point of contact to patients and completing all administrative tasks associated with scheduling, patient interaction, and insurance verification.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned, including checking schedules and organizing patient flow.
- Recognizes changes in patient's condition upon presentation in the office and conveys the changes to clinical team members or providers.
- Collects patient history form upon intake, including current medications, allergies, and symptoms.
- Obtains required personal and financial information to create patient medical records and obtain authorizations / pre-certifications.
- Verifies patient information and insurance coverage.
- Accurately processes physician's referrals and orders and enters tests into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Schedules appropriate medical/surgical appointments and testing procedures for patients.
- Confirms and reminds patients of scheduled appointments.
- Collects insurance co-payments and deductibles.
- Monitors patient waiting time and ensures benefits and eligibility are verified.
