SUMMARY:

The State Reporting Specialist at HUSD plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with state and local regulations by facilitating the accurate reporting of school data. This position entails collaborating with various internal departments and state agencies, under the supervision of the Director of Information Technology. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in compliance and reporting, with adeptness in database management, school information system protocols within Synergy, and research skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work cooperatively with campus data staff, administrators, and central office staff to monitor and maintain high-quality student data accuracy and integrity within the
    district student information system.
  • Monitor campus data staff's activities related to maintenance of students' registration documents and permanent cumulative record.
  • Coordinate the collection, integration, and formatting of data required for state reporting, utilizing platforms such as Arizona Education Data Standards (AzEDS), and ADEConnect.
  • Conduct data cleaning processes to ensure data quality for state reporting and other
    compliance functions.
  • Verify and submit required state reporting data to ensure Humboldt Unified School District comply with federal, state, and local regulations utilizing Synergy.
  • Develop and maintain the Compliance Calendar, tracking state reporting requirements, compliance filings, and internal projects.
  • Monitor legislative developments and communicate new compliance requirements to relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Information Technology and Finance teams to standardize business practices and update
    associated materials.
  • Serve as a liaison with the Arizona Department of Education, providing technical
    assistance and training to school personnel.
  • Provide training, instruction and auditing feedback to district attendance secretaries
    to decrease attendance audit findings.
  • Support school leaders and staff in understanding compliance and state reporting
    needs.
  • Prepare regular reports for the Director of Information Technology and the Superintendent.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Familiarity with compliance terminology and regulatory environments.
  • Understanding of school operations, particularly related to scheduling and attendance.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in basic database queries and data extraction.
  • Understanding of state reporting requirements and Arizona Department of Education systems.
  • Familiarity with student information systems
  • Data protection/confidentiality regulations such as FERPA
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A keen eye for detail, precision and problem solving skills
  • Ability to interpret statutes, regulations, and agency guidance.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:
  • Preferred Bachelor's degree from an accredited university (USA equivalent).
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2 or more years previous data related training experience
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that meets minimum requirements
  • Criminal justice/Fingerprint clearance
Computer Proficiency:
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer programs such as in Office 365, Google, and virtual communication platforms.
