Description

The Early Head Start Disabilities Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting the developmental progress of infants and toddlers with disabilities or developmental delays. This position requires a passionate individual dedicated to promoting inclusivity and ensuring that families receive the resources and assistance they need. As an Early Head Start Disabilities Coordinator, you will work collaboratively with families, educators, and service providers to identify and implement effective strategies for children’s development. Your expertise will help create individualized education plans tailored to each child's unique needs. You will be responsible for organizing training for staff and offering consultation on best practices in serving children with disabilities. In addition, your role involves monitoring compliance with federal and state regulations related to early childhood education and special education services. You will also conduct outreach efforts aimed at enhancing community awareness about the importance of early intervention and support services. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with families to identify children with disabilities or developmental delays and facilitate assessments.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) for children with disabilities.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on best practices for working with children with diverse needs.
  • Coordinate with community agencies and service providers to ensure comprehensive support services are available.
  • Conduct regular training sessions for educators on inclusive teaching strategies and disability awareness.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations concerning early childhood education and special education services.
  • Maintain accurate records of assessments, meetings, services provided, and outcomes for children with disabilities.

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
  • Experience working with preschool-aged children with disabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of early intervention strategies and special education laws.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people, including parents and educators.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to conduct assessments and interpret results effectively.
