The Process Engineer is focused on serial life equipment improvements, on eliminating waste from the production processes. Using statistical means, they increase process efficiency by better integrating operator activity with machines, materials, information, and energy in the shopfloor area. Research and test design ideas to determine feasibility, utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis to formulate/support innovation, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities. Create and maintain required manufacturing process documentation, including process flow charts, capacity and utilization studies, time and motion studies, standard work, cycle time analysis and line balancing. Performance is measured in e.g. labor time reduction, NCC1 improvements. The Process Engineer is responsible for multiple pieces of manufacturing equipment and their respective process. In this role the individual will: Monitor equipment performance based on KPIs like: cycle time, downtime, MTBF, yield and scrap and identify opportunities for improvement and implement. Respond to production equipment breakdowns, help diagnose faults, determine root causes and repair. Support day-to-day solving of manufacturing process issues. Give direction to maintenance technicians on troubleshooting and repairing machinery Data capturing and processing: cycle times, line stoppages, etc. Prepare and maintain process documentation: setup matrix / parameter cards / work instructions / process guides. Prepare and maintain equipment documentation: setup, schematics, operating guides, spare parts lists, troubleshooting guides, and maintenance procedures. Select components for industrial automation with the purpose of repairing, modifying, and improving equipment. Plan and conduct process characterizations Lead and drive activities and projects to improve OEE, MTBF, MTTR, scrap and FPY via problem-solving and process optimization Identifies, implement and documents projects in 5-Why and 8D formats for review with engineering and management. Plan and support scheduled equipment maintenance Perform equipment and process setup and validation Work with cross-functional teams (Production, Maintenance, Quality, New Product Launch, IT) Participate in meetings (daily & weekly) Provide updates on actions Provide feedback on equipment and process-related topics Design & implement equipment modifications (mechanical, electrical & software) Work with suppliers (automation, machine shops, component vendors, reps) Collect, record, process, analyze and transcribe data and show results in reports.
