MFS established Metropolitan Peace Initiatives in response to record levels of community violence. The goal of this initiative is to provide a comprehensive, long-term approach to reduce gun violence. This framework brings together community-driven strategies that empower community-based organizations to intervene with those individuals at the highest risk of driving the violence while working with the overall resident population to transform perceptions and realities of their community. This holistic framework responds to high-risk incidents while also being proactive in preventing situations. A goal of this strategy is to increase the collaboration of community-based organizations across communities.

We are now hiring for a full-time MPI Associate Director of Workforce Development to join our Metropolitan Peace Initiatives/CP4P team

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervises and coordinates aspects of the programs including items related to service, workforce partners, and personnel matters
  • Develops and coordinates monthly meetings with workforce program managers and program support staff
  • Responsible for maintaining quality and quantity of services. Keeps abreast of client service and participates needs
  • Assures appropriate integrations of multi-service, multi-disciplinary, and systems approach to the program both internal and external to provide support and services to participants
  • Develops and maintains contacts with community groups relating to program development and needs.
  • Works collaboratively with community organizations, government agencies and civic institutions.
  • Works collaboratively with other program supervisors to carry out goals and look for other opportunities for program development.
  • Facilitates the change management processes with transitional job employers by conducting meetings, delivering presentations/trainings that are responsive to the needs of the participants or community
  • Participate in strategic planning, debriefing meetings, and manage documentation for program
  • Provide recommendations based on deployment mission outcomes
  • Coordinate and assist in the launch of new initiatives or support services.
  • Trains staff, interns, Metropolitan Peace Initiatives partners, and external partners on the MPA street outreach best practice model and curriculum
  • Tracks caseload numbers and participant outcome data and provide timely reports to the Director of Workforce Development, and Director of Field Instruction, as requested;
  • Provides emergency support to Metropolitan Peace Initiatives partners and participants in crisis;
  • Performs other programmatic duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in Workforce development, Re-entry, or Community Violence Intervention with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Completed the MPA Academy preferred
  • Mobility for travel is required throughout the city.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Be comfortable with community facing events.
  • Demonstrated competence in consultation, teaching, and writing
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, and decision-making skill.
  • Demonstrated superior skills with families or communities.
  • Must be amenable to work some evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for sustained periods of time, frequently talk, hear, use hands and fingers to feel, handle and operate objects or controls, and occasionally stand, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel and crouch.
  • The employee will lift and/or move with capability of at least 50 pounds.
SALARY:
  • Compensation is commensurate with years of related experience, position requirements, and candidate qualifications. The average salary for the position is $80,000.
