About the Job:

Serving as part of the program leadership team, the Director of Workforce Development provides leadership, direction and oversight of New Moms' Job Training and College Success programs. This position works in partnership with Bright Endeavor's leadership to ensure program goals and growth aligns with operations of a growing social enterprise. This full-time position supports the agency's vision, philosophy and values in the comprehensive delivery of services to young moms through the delivery of a comprehensive workforce development programming and supportive services. This position will champion all New Moms values including our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, in both strategic planning and performance. This position works at in the East Garfield Park neighborhood at Bright Endeavors. Salary range starts at: $80,000 DOQ

Key Job Responsibilities:

Program Oversight:

  • Oversees the Workforce Development department including Job Training and College Success programming, including two direct and five indirect reports
  • Provides leadership and oversight on all aspects of service delivery including program development, implementation, evaluation, and reflective supervision of direct reports for the workforce development and education coaching programs
  • Responsible for the hiring, training and supervision of a diverse team
  • Provides executive skills-informed reflective supervision with direct reports and provide coaching to help staff grow as professionals and excel in their role
  • Provides coverage for staff who are absent or assigns to others when necessary
  • Accountable for all continuous quality improvement including participant survey feedback loops
  • Support overall outcomes and impact by strengthening program managers and coaches' work by reviewing and analyzing data from digital coaching tools, including by not limited to New Moms' app, survey platforms, resource hubs, etc.
  • Serves as an active member of the leadership team, facilitates staff meetings, and provides professional development opportunities to team members
  • Works collaboratively with BE leadership team to identify gaps and needs to ensure high quality coaching and manufacturing standards are met
  • Accountable for orientation and oversight of volunteers and interns involved within the Workforce Development programs
  • In consultation with the Chief Program Officer and Senior Director of Performance Management, oversees the implementation and tracks progress on programmatic plans, quality assurance activities, required reporting, and program outcomes
  • Oversees all internal and external data management training, data entry, and compliance to ensure staff compliance with Agency and funder database requirements checking monthly for accuracy and completion
  • Leads departments budget preparation and reviews; responsible for budget implementation and adherence
  • Develops formal and informal relationships with community service providers maximize program capacity and opportunities for participants to upskill and/or obtain certifications
Organizational Leadership:
  • Represents New Moms in a positive and constructive manner in all interactions with participants, staff, board, government officials, funders, and community partners
  • Upholds the New Moms' Executive Skills Coaching approach which is grounded in racial equity
  • Regularly participates in agency and program staff meetings, as well as professional group seminars or conferences to enhance professional knowledge and job skills
  • Committed to developing further as a leader by participating in the New Moms professional development model, demonstrating achievement in competencies defined by the agency
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's preferred
Experience:
  • More than five (5) years of business, training or workforce development experience required
  • More than five (5) years of experience hiring and leading diverse teams required
  • Experience managing workforce development contracts required; WIOA, SNAP E&T, and/or CDBG contracts preferred
Skills/Traits:
  • Strong track record in managing a comprehensive and complex array of projects with intellectual curiosity, attention to detail and a results-oriented approach
  • Strong track record in program development that supports participants economic mobility
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and in writing
  • Proficiency in the use of personal computers and Microsoft software applications
Other requirements:
  • Valid driver's license, with safe driving record and valid insurance; Daily access to a reliable car required
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, depending on the needs of agency
