SUMMARY: Ohio Gratings, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Quality Assurance and Compliance to oversee all aspects of quality management, compliance, and claims resolution within our manufacturing company and sister entities. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance while effectively managing claims processes and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational excellence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive quality assurance programs and procedures to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal quality standards.
  • Establish and maintain quality control processes throughout the manufacturing lifecycle, including incoming materials inspection, in-process monitoring, and final product testing.
  • Evaluate the assembly of fabricated materials by dimensional checks, and visual inspection (welds, etc.)
  • Collaborate and lead cross-functional teams to identify and address quality issues, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action implementation to drive continuous improvement and reduce waste.
  • Implement and monitor quality control procedures and policies.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen.
  • Support plant operations and ensure the company is compliant with ISO 9001.
  • Manage compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and certifications (e.g., ISO, etc.), including maintaining documentation, conducting audits, and ensuring timely corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with product development and engineering teams to ensure that quality requirements are integrated into the design and development process.
  • Oversee the claims resolution process, including investigation, evaluation, and resolution of customer complaints and product returns.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to track quality metrics, compliance status, and claims resolution effectiveness.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the quality assurance team, fostering a culture of accountability, production goals, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Drive a culture of quality throughout the organization by promoting awareness, training, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure the quality and reliability of incoming materials and components.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies and external auditors as necessary to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
  • Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes to support the company's objectives and growth initiatives.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, AND PROFICIENCIES:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify defects and discrepancies.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
  • Fabrication experience and a working knowledge of welding practices is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in quality assurance and compliance roles within a manufacturing environment, preferably in a leadership capacity.
  • Experience with leading an organization to ISO 9001 compliance a plus.
  • Certified Welding Inspector certification a plus.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems, regulatory requirements, and industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • Proven track record of implementing and managing quality systems, processes, and programs.
  • Experience with claims management and resolution processes.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Effective leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
