The Oregon Department of Corrections (ODOC) seeks to employ career-oriented candidates and offers employment opportunities in a wide variety of challenging occupations. This position is represented by American Federations of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.

Duties

As an Office Specialist 2 in our Behavioral Health Services (BHS) Unit, you will be providing clerical and administrative support to the BHS Manager, along with the Behavioral Health Specialist 1 and 2's, contractors, prescribers, and volunteers in the institution and those working remotely. Duties would include general office, record processing and scanning, scheduling, and data entry to support operation to the program.

The BHS Unit provides treatment to those who are mentally ill, cognitively impaired, and/or developmentally disabled, or addiction impacted.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents.

OR

An associate degree in any field.

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Working Conditions

This position is located inside Columbia River Correctional Institution and works in close contact with adults in custody in the institution setting and may be exposed to hostile situations or incidents. You may be standing and walking for long periods of time. You will need to push or move a cart with several medical charts with or without reasonable accommodations. May have exposure to chemicals, communicable diseases, radiation, and other hazards inherent within a health care and correctional setting. This position is Monday-Friday working hours can range from 6:30am to 4pm.

Requirements for Employment

You must be able to pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following convictions are likely to result in being disqualified for this position: felony convictions, computer theft, identify theft and fraud. CJIS clearance is done at the conditional job offer.

The salary range listed above is for non-PERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range. Also provided are fully paid retirement program, modest life insurance policy, paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave.
