Responsibilities:

Strategy & Planning:
  • Create vision and strategy for delivery of feature-rich DevOps platforms, incorporating input from stakeholders.
  • Perform research and maintain awareness of industry trends, tools, and modern software development techniques.
  • Develop strategies for increasing ROI across strategic platforms and frameworks.
  • Establish processes and standards for capacity and scalability planning efforts.
  • Ensure inclusion of Security in DevOps platforms and compliance with Cybersecurity policies.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and innovation; identify and drive automation opportunities.
  • Implement strategies for optimal platform and tool usage.
Acquisition & Deployment:
  • Utilize governance processes to prioritize and define work, track and publish metrics.
  • Make budget recommendations for team and platform needs, prepare presentations for senior management.
  • Work closely with DevOps leadership, product & platform teams, and stakeholders to ensure technology solutions meet business objectives.
  • Review project requests describing Delivery & Release Engineering needs, estimate time and effort involved.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard information.
Operational Management:
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Develop practices and tools for proactive performance tuning.
  • Mentor the team on DevSecOps, produce high-quality, reusable automation.
  • Guide troubleshooting efforts to resolve issues affecting enterprise DevOps platforms.
  • Conduct knowledge transfer sessions for technical development.
  • Manage staffing, performance, and resource management.
  • Set employee objectives, monitor and evaluate performance, provide feedback and mentoring.
  • Create and maintain development plans for each team member, including training and career planning.
  • Manage personal growth objectives for the team.
Incidental Functions:
  • Develop and understand critical processes, provide regular communication on the status of initiatives.
  • Provide guidance/assistance with various efforts as required.
  • Maintain current knowledge of technology workstream regarding current state and future possibilities.
  • Engage in Proof-of-Value scoping in evaluating new technologies.
  • Coordinate and assist with disaster planning/mitigation/recovery.
  • Participate in hiring activities, ensuring compliance with equal employment opportunity standards.
Qualifications:

Formal Education & Certification: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology or equivalent experience.

Knowledge & Experience:
  • 12+ years of IT experience.
  • 6+ years of experience managing direct reports.
  • 6+ years of experience supporting DevOps toolchain platforms such as SCM, CI/CD, IaC, Containerization, and/or Package Management.
  • Experience implementing and owning DevOps/Platform Engineering technologies, strategies, tools, and practices.
  • Experience working with Linux, containers, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience developing documentation and presenting technical solutions.
Preferred Knowledge & Skills:
  • Experience with Azure and/or AWS cloud offerings.
  • Experience with GitHub, Jenkins, Terraform, Docker, Artifactory, Sonar, LaunchDarkly, and/or equivalent platforms.
  • Experience with Agile development and release methodologies.
