Summary About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. Responsibilities Administer, configure, and monitor the Network Management System (NMS) to oversee attached network devices (HUBS, routers, bridges, etc.). Work with network monitoring tools (Remote network monitoring (RMON), and Openview) and protocols (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)). Establish/assign IP addresses to manage the Fiber Optic backbone. Support a wide range of applications and a wide range of underlying technologies. Assist support personnel and customers with password access, integration, installation, administration, and operation of computer systems on the installation network. Act as first line of defense for network problems supporting customers. Develop and document implementation procedures concerning security features of network devices, external interfaces, and the data communications network. Serve as the local project representative and is responsible for coordinating all phases of the Installation Support Modules/Sustaining Base Information System project at the Installation level with Major Command (MACOM)/DA personnel. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by To qualify based on your experience, your resume must clearly describe the following quality experience: Performing, or leading other network technicians in identification, diagnostics, or resolution of complex network related issues; interpreting network security requirements or modifying network device configurations to maintain security compliance; analyzing and defining network requirements; and configuring and optimizing network routers, switches and firewalls. The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined: (1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
