The Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architectures, policy and strategy, developmental planning, system of systems engineering, and threat reduction to help shape future space missions across the national security space enterprise. DSG is unique at Aerospace as it not only directly supports major customers, including United States Space Force, United States Space Command, Air Force Material Command, and senior leadership at the Pentagon, but also provides a broad range of services and support across the national space enterprise, maintaining vertical responsibilities with customers but also horizontal, matrixed responsibilities across the corporation This position is for a thought leader who will support transformation of USSF, in particular adding analytic rigor to requirements development processes. The successful candidate will be able to provide experience-based technical expertise for the development of gap analysis and requirements to support rapid prototyping and long-term acquisition of USSF capability. Technical analysis, technical depth, and experience with USSF or USAF operations is necessary. Expertise with writing and managing joint requirements will be extremely helpful. The effort will include identification, development, and recommendation of capability needs for USSF. Successful candidate will engage with USSF support to CSRO, SSC, SPOC, STARCOM as well as USSPACECOM, INDOPACOM to complete thoughtful requirements analysis and documentation. Work Model This position is 100% onsite at our Colorado Springs, CO facility. The position is not compatible with teleworking. What You'll Be Doing USSF requires in depth technical knowledge to translate user needs into formal requirements for space capabilities to accomplish Combatant Command Operational Plans. Aerospace will provide detailed technical expertise to support gap analysis and identification of requirements. Requirements may include the formal JCIDS process, middle-tier acquisition, or other processes. Working closely with SSC, SpOC, and STARCOM peers to refine operational CONOPs of space capabilities and relate them to substantiated performance measu Lead/contribute to cross-functional team focused on emerging space needs/capabilities such as "sustained space maneuver" Be a key member of an important body of work at Aerospace focused on improving the readiness of the space enterprise for great power competition Facilitate connectivity to SpOC and STARCOM to the Aerospace "technical backplane", being able to cross between both technical and operational circles What You Need to be Successful Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in science, mathematics, or engineering discipline Ten or more years of progressively responsible professional experience applicable to the position Functional awareness/working knowledge of USSF warfighting capabilities, requirements, and operations Experience working on concepts associated with sustained space maneuver, SM&L, and associated DSO/dynamic space operations capabilities Experience with developing or managing joint requirements and re ated systems engineering processes Experience with space systems in a joint warfighting environment Proven capability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders/customers The position requires a current SSBI and possess (or be immediately eligible for) a Top Secret SCI clearance and access, which is issued by the US government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
