The Defense Systems Group (DSG) delivers analysis-driven decision support to senior leaders concerning space architectures, policy, strategy, developmental planning, system engineering, and threat mitigation, shaping future space missions within the national security space framework. DSG is distinctive at Aerospace as it not only directly assists key clients, including the United States Space Force, United States Space Command, and senior Pentagon leadership, but also offers a wide array of services across the national space landscape, maintaining both vertical and horizontal responsibilities.

This role is designed for a visionary leader who will enhance the transformation of the USSF, particularly by integrating analytical rigor into the requirements development process. The ideal candidate will possess extensive technical expertise to conduct gap analyses and develop requirements that facilitate rapid prototyping and long-term acquisition of USSF capabilities. Proficiency in technical analysis and familiarity with USSF or USAF operations is essential. Experience in drafting and managing joint requirements will be highly advantageous. Responsibilities will include identifying, developing, and recommending capability needs for USSF, engaging with various USSF entities to conduct thorough requirements analysis and documentation.

Work Model

This position requires full-time presence at our designated facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate user requirements into formal specifications for space capabilities aligned with Combatant Command Operational Plans.
  • Provide expert technical guidance to support gap analysis and requirements identification, including processes such as JCIDS and middle-tier acquisition.
  • Collaborate closely with SSC, SpOC, and STARCOM teams to refine operational concepts and link them to validated performance metrics.
  • Lead or contribute to cross-functional teams addressing emerging space needs and capabilities.
  • Play a crucial role in initiatives aimed at enhancing the readiness of the space enterprise for competitive global dynamics.
  • Facilitate connections between SpOC, STARCOM, and the Aerospace technical framework, bridging technical and operational domains.

Qualifications for Success

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific, mathematical, or engineering discipline.
  • A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience pertinent to the role.
  • Working knowledge of USSF warfighting capabilities and operational requirements.
  • Experience with concepts related to sustained space maneuver and dynamic space operations.
  • Proficiency in developing or managing joint requirements and systems engineering processes.
  • Experience in space systems within a joint warfighting context.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with stakeholders.
  • Possession of a current SSBI and eligibility for a Top Secret SCI clearance, requiring U.S. citizenship.
  • Willingness to travel domestically as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

It would be advantageous if you possess:

  • Education or experience in Systems Engineering or Operations Research.
  • Experience in military utility analysis.
  • Experience in developing test plans and verification processes for requirements.
  • Deep technical knowledge in specific USSF capability areas, particularly in MW/OPIR, Combat Power, or space command and control.
  • Understanding of the USSF's approach to warfare.
  • Current SAP/SAR access.
  • Advanced degree in a technical field.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Experience in developing architectural plans for space capabilities.
  • Familiarity with the Air Force/National Security Space enterprise architecture.
  • Knowledge of Aerospace Engineering and Technology Group capabilities.
  • Ability to navigate complex issues and decompose problems into actionable steps.
