Short Description:

The Oncology Accreditation Supervisor provides direction, leadership, and or support to the organization by coordinating activities to achieve American College of Surgeons oncology program(s) accreditation. This individual works collaboratively with the Manager Oncology Data Services and multiple departments throughout the cancer center towards maintaining accreditation and ensuring Cancer Registry departmental responsibilities are met.

Provide the cancer center leadership towards Commission on Cancer (CoC) accreditation.

  1. Coordinate CoC committee activities including facilitating committee meetings, structuring agendas and PowerPoint slides, coordinating speakers, documenting compliance and results in minutes in compliance with CoC standards
    1. Provide education to advance understanding of accreditation standards and compliance with the standards.
    2. Monitors on an ongoing basis compliance level with standards, recommends activities and documentation to eliminate non-compliance.
    3. Perform annual Cooper Policy Network review and approval of all Cancer Committee policy and procedures.
    4. Serve as lead or support for projects related to accreditation standards.
    5. Collaborate with Cancer Center leadership and committee members to coordinate and facilitate accreditation survey readiness, serve as leader through completion of survey.
    6. Participate in ongoing CoC accreditation related educational activities.

1.7 Maintain required credential

Perform cancer registry responsibilities towards CoC accreditation.

    1. Oversee CoC Multidisciplinary Cancer Case Conference standard by partnering with the Cancer Registry Assistant to review the policy annually, review attendance and tracking activity, presenting a summary to Cancer Committee and providing additional support as needed to ensure standard compliance.
    1. Oversee CoC Cancer Registry Quality Control standard activity by reviewing policy annually, participating in registry and provider quality case review of up to 200 cases yearly, and presenting a summary of findings to the Cancer Committee.
    2. Oversee completion CoC Physician Credential standard annually by partnering with Continuing Medical Education Department
    3. Complete CoC Registry Staff Credential standard annually; update non-credential staff member action plan as needed.
    4. Oversee CoC standard Rapid Cancer Reporting System (RCRS) by ensuring monthly and annual Call for Data submissions are timely and accurate. Keep abreast of up-to-date communications and platform updates.
    5. Utilize RCRS Operational Reports to identify, review and correct coding errors and to pull data and create reports for compliance with CoC standards Accountability & Quality Measures.

Oversee CoC Standard Follow Up of Patients by ensuring monthly reports are generated, compliance is maintained, and action is taken if rates fall below the benchmark.

Work collaboratively with the Oncology Data Manager to ensure the cancer registry meets responsibilities

    1. Abstract cancer cases as needed.
    2. Perform registry tasks including, but not limited to abstracting, casefinding and follow up.
    3. Participate in new hire onboarding and training.
    4. Assist Manager Oncology Data with Cancer Registry departmental responsibilities as needed.
    5. Participate in ongoing cancer registry related educational activities.

Support National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) and National Accreditation Program for Rectal Cancer (NAPRC) accreditation programs

    1. Prepare slides and present quality measure data at quarterly NAPBC meetings.
    2. Prepare cases for surveyor review, and provide additional assistance as needed, for NAPBC and NAPRC accreditation surveys.
    3. Provide other support or leadership to accreditation programs within the cancer center as needed.

Participate in ongoing NAPBC, NAPRC or other accreditation related educational activities.
