Full job description Position Description: School Site Coordinator North River Commission (NRC) seeks a part-time School Site Coordinator with responsibilities to work with teachers, administrators, students, parents, and other project staff, volunteers, and consultants in the delivery of the ISBE Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) Grant objectives, carried out through an out-of-school time (OST) student program titled FORGE. School Site: Albany Park Multicultural Academy Reports to: NRC Education Director Summary The School Site Coordinator is part of a six-person team led by the Education Director and includes three other school site coordinators. The School Site Coordinator leads coordination of all 21st CCLC OST program activities within Albany Park Multicultural Academy. They serve as the on-site liaison between the principal, assistant principals, parents, school staff, instructional staff, program partners, students, and project staff. In partnership with the school administration, they ensure that necessary scheduling, logistics, and infrastructure support is provided to the project. They lead participant recruitment efforts, work with instructional staff and service providers on participant retention, and collaborate with all team members to ensure program equity, quality, and consistency. They work with school, instructional staff, and project staff to collect reporting and general grant required data. They are comfortable in a fast-paced and dynamic workplace, regularly employing their flexibility and strong organizational skills. Background North River Commission is a community-based nonprofit organization founded in 1962 by concerned residents and neighborhood institutions. NRC unites hundreds of civic associations, businesses, schools, institutions, and places of worship on the Northwest Side of Chicago to improve the quality of life for all constituents in our community by maintaining and creating affordable housing, quality education, arts & cultural endeavors, environmental sustainability, open spaces, and thriving neighborhood businesses. Position Responsibilities Supports the planning, development, coordination, and implementation of all 21st CCLC OST student and parent program activities at the school site, Albany Park Multicultural Academy. Meets with the Education Director and FORGE 21st CCLC team on a weekly basis to develop and deliver project objectives. Maintains positive and effective communication lines with and between the principal, assistant principal, school staff, parents, students, project and instructional staff, and partners. Meets with school principal and administrators when needed. Coordinates logistics and facilitates appropriate infrastructure support with the support of the school principal, assistant principal, and school staff. In partnership with school leadership, responsible for the successful recruitment and retention of students and parents in the program. Provides leadership and support to the program’s instructional team and facilitates ongoing team meetings. Effectively communicates via Zoom/Google Meet, email, telephone, and in-person with parents, families, and students in English to provide program specific information and guidance. Spanish proficiency is preferred but is not required. Provides on-site leadership and support to instructors during after-school student programming, at family workshops, and during other program activities. May assist with programming when needed. Coordinates with project staff and School Site Coordinators to ensure program alignment across project schools. Assists in data collection, reporting, and evaluation efforts. Performs all other job duties as assigned. Experience, Skills, Abilities The preferred School Site Coordinator is a current or former Albany Park Multicultural Academy parent leader with experience, or the potential to learn and be successful, in after-school and parent/family programming. They have strong experience and familiarity with the school community and the ability to work with multiple program stakeholders. They have effective written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish, and have strong collaboration and networking skills to create effective internal and external partnerships. The preferred candidate possesses proficient computer skills, ability to navigate across a variety of situations, and work successfully both individually and across a team-based environment. Work Schedule The School Site Coordinator works an average of 20 hours per week on days the program is in operation. While this position is part-time at 20 hours per week, there is the likelihood of some weeks requiring more than 20 hours (but less than 30) of work. Exact working hours are flexible, but afternoon availability is required in order to be present during main program hours. Occasional evenings and Saturdays are required. Compensation The hourly wage for the School Site Coordinator position is $30/hr. Background check is required prior to start of work. Additional requirements may be required by North River Commission or Chicago Public Schools. Position is open until filled. North River Commission is an equal opportunity employer.
