Our client in Florida is seeking a Statutory Senior Accountant to join their growing team. The Statutory Senior Accountant will be responsible for preparing journal entries to support timely financial statement close and ensure all activity recorded in line with Statutory Accounting principles (SAP). Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual statutory filings, including core financial statements, supporting schedules and footnote disclosures. This position will also support the monthly general ledger closing process, as well as any other support that is necessary within the Finance Department. This is a remote position, ideal candidates will be based in Florida.

Responsibilities:

Prepare journal entries to support timely financial statement close and ensure all activity recorded in line with Statutory Accounting principles (SAP). Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting. Review journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by junior accounting staff. Prepare accurate, timely financial statements in accordance with our established schedule and with input from the rest of the accounting department. Analyze financial statements for discrepancies, variances and other issues that should be brought to the management’s attention. Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual statutory filings, including core financial statements, supporting schedules and footnote disclosures. Prepare all Statutory to GAAP adjustment entries in support of preparation of financial statements presented on both a statutory and GAAP basis. Assess technical accounting issues related to Statutory accounting regulations for appropriate financial treatment. Support both GAAP and SAP financial statement audit activities.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting. At least 5 years of experience as an accountant. At least 2 years experience as a senior accountant. In-depth understanding of SAP and GAAP needed. Property and casualty Insurance industry experience needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

CPA preferred. Experience with EAS general ledger and EFS Statutory reporting software.
