Bridger Photonics, Inc. creates and deploys innovative LiDAR sensors for the Oil & Gas and Industrial Manufacturing industries. Overview of Position

We seek an outstanding and motivated R&D engineer to design and develop electronic hardware for Bridger's LiDAR products. The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary team to design, build, and test hardware systems to advance Bridger's technology.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Participation in drafting project requirements,
  • Defining technical strategies and system specifications based on project requirements,
  • Design, layout, fabrication, and testing of electronic circuits, assemblies, and products including a diverse set of subsystems such as power electronics, analog control circuits, digital interfacing, power supplies, clocking, ADC, DAC, signal conditioning, and high-speed data transfer,
  • Optimization of multiple hardware variants to meet application-specific requirements,
  • Hands-on testing and troubleshooting of hardware systems including circuit boards, optoelectronic components and subsystems,
  • Contributing to a team of engineers, scientists, and technicians on new technology development from conception through R&D to production of reliable commercial products,
  • Developing and executing measurement plans to characterize experimental optoelectronic hardware,
  • Design and execution of reliability tests, including transfer of procedures to manufacturing for quality control and quality assurance.
Requirements

Required qualifications:
  • B.S., B.A., or higher in Electrical Engineering or equivalent field, with industry/production experience,
  • Direct hands-on experience designing and delivering electronic products,
  • Demonstrated proficiency in electrical hardware development, including circuit design, board layout, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting,
  • Demonstrated expertise and proficiency with Altium, SPICE, or similar electrical design and/or simulation software,
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to interact effectively with third parties for troubleshooting and product development purposes,
  • Excellent work ethic with the willingness to work hard and efficiently in a fast-paced research environment,
  • Ability to develop own work plan with feedback and support collaborating with a tight-knit development team.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Skilled in fabrication and prototyping, including soldering and board assembly and modification,
  • Experience designing analog, RF, and/or power electronics,
  • Experience designing for EMC compliance and certifications such as CE,
  • Experience designing and laying out mixed-signal, low noise, and high-speed electrical systems such as PCIe or SATA,
  • Demonstrated programming experience in C, or C++, or similar languages,
  • Experience with bring-up and debug of digital embedded systems,
  • Experience with optoelectronic components such as lasers, optical fibers, and/or photodetectors,
  • Experience designing for reliability (e.g. in industries such as aerospace, automotive, or medical),
  • Experience with Matlab or Python for technical computing.
