Overview:

The Accountant will provide support in the accounting department through processing and reconciling a wide variety of accounting documents. Work is performed by applying knowledge of accounting terminology and using spreadsheets and/or automated accounting systems. This is a dynamic role in a growing division that will evolve over time. The person in this role will have opportunities for advancement and the ability to grow with the department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the processing and reconciling of accounting documents including, but not limited to, invoices, vendor statements, billing statements, and journal entries.
  • Review and code financial information for accuracy.
  • Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments
  • Validate billing statements and customer invoices.
  • Post transactions and payments received to journals, ledgers, and other records.
  • Participate in general ledger maintenance.
  • Assist department personnel.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliation.
  • Reconcile bank statements.
  • Participate in all aspects of the monthly close process.
  • Prepare various schedules and reports.
  • Prepare journal entries.
  • Calculate and enter rebates & commissions.
  • Intercompany account reconciliation.
  • Participate in year-end closing and financial statement audit.
  • Participate in budget process.
  • Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date.
  • Research and resolve invoice and/or billing discrepancies and issues.
  • Prepare memos, correspondence, reports, and other documents as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Complete special projects/assignments as needed.
  • Account Analysis and extensive follow-up and resolution of challenging issues
  • Assist Sr. Manager with Financial Reporting
  • Monthly Reporting
  • Extensive Quarterly Reporting Package
  • Special calendar and year end reporting schedules
  • Cost maintenance
  • Interim PPV and COS review and analysis

Additional Needs/Requirements:

  • Understanding of accounting principles and concepts.
  • Understanding of financial reporting system and internal control environment.
  • Experience with ERP systems is preferred but not required.
  • Strong Excel skills are essential.
  • Ability and willingness to learn and grow in dynamic role.
  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects through completion.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Possess the ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Ability to work collectively with team members and across departments.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in accounting with one (1) year of relevant experience.

OR

  • Associate degree in accounting with three (3) years of relevant experience.

OR

  • High School Diploma or GED and five (5) years of relevant experience.
