Position: Human Resources Generalist

SUMMARY
The Human Resources Generalist administers various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee handbook and policies and procedures manual. This position requires a self-motivated, goal oriented and dependable individual to create and maintain on-going relationships. A sense of confidence and a positive, friendly attitude are important.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Participates in developing department goals and objectives.
  • Administers compensation program; monitors performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.
  • Performs benefits administration to include enrollment, claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, and communicating benefit information to employees.
  • Develops and maintains affirmative action program; files EEO-1 report annually; maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
  • Conducts recruitment effort for all hourly, exempt and nonexempt personnel; conducts new-employee orientations; schedules pre-employment screening; writes and places advertisements.
  • Handles employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars. Maintains company organization charts and employee directory.
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Maintains Human Resource Information System records and compiles reports from database.
  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
  • Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of personnel administration
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisor responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or WORK EXPERIENCE
Associates Degree is required; Bachelors Degree in Human Resources or related field is preferred. Three to five years experience in Human Resources is required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software is also required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policy manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret graphs.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral, diagram, or schedule form.
