Description

ABCD offers a range of programs to help the youth of Boston stay in school, prepare for a career, and build a strong foundation for a successful future. Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise a group of youth participants in the SummerWorks program to guide and assist them through their work experience as it pertains to payroll, portfolio development, and career and life skills.
  • Conduct youth orientations.
  • Oversee and assist with youth paperwork and individual service plans.
  • Responsible for youth timecard collection and payroll distribution.
  • Meet with youth participants on a regular basis to address workshop assignments.
  • Assist youth in the development of their Individual Service Strategy.
  • Provide feedback on academic skills (writing, reading, mathematics).
  • Develop techniques for motivating youth participants to complete assignments.
  • Maintain a weekly log and case notes to document youth progress.
  • Arrange weekly thematic workshops for youth participants.
  • Meet with worksite supervisor on a regular basis to coordinate educational, career, and life skills goals.
  • Be responsive to and proactive with youth participants and worksites.
  • Attend weekly meeting with Youth Services regarding documentation and statistics of enrollee progress.
  • Responsible for all requests made by the Community Coordination Department regarding weekly reports, final report, and miscellaneous youth concerns.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent and up to twelve months of experience and expertise with urban adult literacy, and youth education and employment programs required.
  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with both Boston Public Schools and community organizations.
  • Ability to be responsive to and proactive with youth participants and worksites.
  • Knowledge of assessment techniques and issues, innovated teaching, career development and counseling mechanisms, etc.
  • Flexibility, initiative, and ability to work in a team required.
  • Ability to deal sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.
