Salary: $45,000 - $47,000 (Commensurate with Experience)

Impact on the Community

In this role, you will engage exceptional high school students in SERVICE. This engagement will occur during classroom sessions in collaboration with educators, as well as after school and on weekends with local organizations. Utilizing buildOn's modified IPARD model, you will facilitate service learning that not only benefits the community but also fosters personal growth among the students. Additionally, you will motivate students to apply for buildOn's Trek program, offering them the chance to travel to partner countries (Malawi, Nepal, Nicaragua, Guatemala, or Senegal) to contribute to school construction efforts.

About the Program

Our Boston Service-learning initiative equips high school students with the resources necessary to enact change in their communities through service. On a global scale, we partner with individuals in regions facing high poverty and illiteracy rates to establish schools, enroll out-of-school children, and support adult learners through our Adult Literacy Program. To date, our U.S. students have dedicated over 2.4 million hours of service, resulting in the construction of more than 2,500 schools across eight countries, with a new school being built every 36 hours.

buildOn is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional with a strong commitment to engaging youth in overcoming poverty, illiteracy, and low expectations through SERVICE and education. Our Engagement Specialists recognize the importance of connecting individuals who may not otherwise have the opportunity to serve and learn together.

The ideal candidate is driven to achieve ambitious goals and inspire youth to participate in service. A successful Engagement Specialist is approachable, humble, and eager to engage students both individually and in groups. They should be genuine, enthusiastic, and enjoyable to work with.
