Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish a nurturing relationship with parents.
  • Facilitate and/or direct parents to support groups and workshops.
  • Assist parents of youth placed by OCFS during meetings and appointments.
  • Provide support to parents of OCFS placed youth experiencing crises.
  • Advocate for parents of youth placed with OCFS.
  • Connect parents to broader empowerment initiatives to enhance their understanding of their role in supporting families.
  • Engage with parents regularly through one-on-one interactions in the community and at scheduled gatherings.
  • Involve parents in groups, outings, and other family engagement activities.
  • Help organize and coordinate monthly informational sessions for families.
  • Participate in required and optional training sessions as outlined by OCFS.
  • Collaborate closely with OCFS family engagement specialists and the statewide family engagement expert.
  • Encourage and support the active participation of families in events or activities at OCFS facilities and community programs.
