JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

Responsible for engineering design and support for power distribution. Performs a wide variety of planning, maintenance, and design engineering activities related to routine, non-routine, and emergency restoration duties. Project areas may include grid/system design, operations and maintenance, planning, asset management, reliability, computer applications, safety, and root cause failure analysis.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform load flow analysis, reliability, and circuit coordination analysis utilizing Synerge Electric.
  • Identify and develop a plan to correct Un-Balanced loads on distribution circuits.
  • Review underperforming feeders and devices, and develop reliability plans to improve system performance, while in communication with the local network teams.
  • Develop settings, program, and size all field equipment including but not limited to Reclosers, TripSaverII, Fuses, Capacitors, and Regulators.
  • Perform Root Cause Failure Analysis on failures with unknown causes while reviewing ADMS outage cases for inaccuracies.
  • Develop planned switching orders for the network and support on-call hours.
  • Troubleshoot power quality issues and support customer support requests.
  • Provide technical guidance to Engineering Associates and local area line groups.
  • Create, Review, and recommend for approval electrical designs that addressed existing reliability issues, comply with company design standards, and enhance the overall system performance and reliability.
  • Participate in meetings with external customers, architects, developers, contractors and government entities to communicate standards and guidelines.
  • Perform engineering calculations to aid in planning and corrective measure projects.
  • Assist with storm restoration efforts both local and out of town.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum education required of the position
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Chemical, Industrial) from four year accredited institution. Degrees in engineering technology (typically, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from a four year accredited institution with PE may be considered.

Minimum experience required of the position

Engineer I: 0 to 2 years' experience in an engineering discipline.

Engineer II: 2+ years' experience in an engineering discipline.

Engineer III: 4+ years experience in an engineering discipline.

Engineer Sr: 6+ year experience in an engineering discipline.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
Knowledgeable of engineering principles. Ability to understand and comply with procedures, programs, and standards in responsible area. Good leadership skills. Good interpersonal skills along with strong written and oral communication skills. Excellent math skills. Excellent project management skills. Good knowledge of Personal Computer operations and related software. Familiar with National Electrical Safety Codes and National Electrical Code. Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities. Ability to work well under pressure. Required to work safely and follow all Entergy safety policies and procedures. Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and have the ability to mitigate the hazards. Ability to meet the public in a pleasant and tactful manner and understand the importance of delivering a high level of customer service. Demonstrated acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment and customer base. Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement and have the ability to enact change.
