About this role:
The HR Generalist will play a critical role in supporting the HR function at Chapco by providing a variety of administrative and support services with an emphasis on recruiting/onboarding, payroll, and benefit administration. You will provide support to employees and managers, ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures while participating in employee engagement and development initiatives. This is a great opportunity for an HR generalist looking to take the next step in their career This position is fully on-site.

Responsibilities may include:
Recruiting & Onboarding
  • Work with Managers to understand their staffing needs; update job descriptions accordingly.
  • Manage the staffing process, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring and onboarding. Find creative ways to recruit such as job fairs, unique job boards, community connections, etc.
  • Manage the onboarding process with focus on a positive new hire experience.
Training, Development & Employee Engagement
  • Develop training materials and performance management programs to help ensure employees understand their job responsibilities and assure proper feedback is being delivered throughout the year. This may include developing a process for quarterly conversations, 90-day reviews, check in's with new hires, long-term employees, etc.
  • Assist managers with performance documentation and salary reviews.
  • Assist managers with identifying and tracking training and development needs.
  • Develop and roll out employee engagement initiatives and retention strategies.
Benefits
  • Participate in benefit renewal process and manage employee open enrollment.
  • Educate and enroll new hires in health & welfare benefits as well as 401(k); prepare and send applicable portability information upon termination.
  • Answer employee questions regarding benefits and escalate to broker/carrier as needed to resolve.
Workers Compensation
  • Work with Managers to assure incident reports are complete and timely.
  • Submit claims to Insurance company and file end of year reporting to OSHA
  • Work with employees and insurance companies assuring employees return to work following procedure and expected timeframes.
Payroll
  • This role may be responsible for running weekly payroll. Work with managers to assure accurate weekly pay, provide reporting to Finance, as necessary.
General Administration
  • Investigate employee issues and conflicts and bring them to resolution.
  • Ensure the organization's compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Ensure all company HR policies are applied consistently and the employee handbook is updated, as necessary.
  • Maintain company organization charts.
  • Partner with management to ensure strategic HR goals are aligned with business initiatives.
  • Maintain HR systems and processes.
  • Provide support and guidance to HR staff, Managers, and employees.
  • Analyze trends in compensation and benefits.
  • Plan staff events.
  • Ad hoc reporting (KPI's OSHA, etc.)
  • Other related duties as required.
Qualifications

  • Proven working experience as HR Generalist
  • Ability to communicate at every level of the organization. Comfortable presenting ideas to Employees, Managers and Leadership Team.
  • In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices. Ability to stay informed of state and federal regulation, willing do research or work with outside council when necessary.
  • People oriented and results driven
  • Demonstrable experience with Human Resources metrics
  • Strong MS Office and computer skills, knowledge of HR systems and databases (ADP Workforce Now a big plus)
  • Excellent active listening, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Attention to detail is important in this role
  • Degree in Human Resources or related field is helpful.
