The successful candidate will be responsible for developing plans and specifications, performing analysis, and providing comprehensive reports on assigned tasks related to the design and construction of new facilities or the operation and maintenance of existing facilities. This role involves resolving equipment and operational issues, conducting field investigations, performing design work, and ensuring the integration of specific design aspects into projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and update engineering standards, policies, and guidelines, ensuring compliance with these procedures.
  • Communicate with regulatory bodies and government agencies as required.
  • Act as a resource for less experienced team members, directing the technical complexities of work.
  • Plan, prioritize, conduct, and lead assignments, serving as project or case manager.
  • Engage with the general public, developers, landowners, and interest groups regarding zoning, subdivision projects, building projects, and engineering regulations.
  • Provide technical presentations to elected officials, appointed boards/commissions, the public, and staff.
  • Lead lower-level Engineers in project completion and act as a liaison with other departments and organizations.
  • Function as a quality inspector or define quality requirements on engineering designs and projects.
  • Manage budgets, schedules, and resources for small to medium-sized projects.
  • Review and critique proposed changes to engineering standards, policies, and guidelines.
  • Conduct surveys to gather field data and prepare/interpret schematics, drawings, layouts, and other visual aids.
  • Develop solutions that require original approaches based on thorough research and technical expertise.

Qualifications:

Lead Engineer:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • 6 years of related Engineering experience (including at least 4 years as an Engineer)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) designation
  • Valid State Drivers License

Senior Engineer:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or PE designation
  • 5 years of related Engineering experience (including at least 3 years as an Engineer)
  • Valid Drivers License

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Exceptional communication skills (oral, written, and presentation)
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Ability to lead and direct the work of others
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal guidance
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in multiple engineering initiatives
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with shifting priorities
  • Interpersonal skills to interface with diverse personalities
  • Team player with excellent project leadership skills

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required for Lead Engineer position
