The Food and Nutrition Team Lead position is responsible for leading a team and coordinate work activities while performing the same duties to assist the team to meet the goals of daily activities and goals of the department. Performs as a functional resource, trains employees of the food and nutrition department and assists in supporting and or overseeing organizational programs for success.

Job Duties

  • Knowledge and understanding of culinary compliance, HACCP food safety program, food handling, cooling & reheating temperatures of the different food groups and thermometer use.
  • Understanding of Local & State Boards of Health regulatory requirements. Able to oversee and perform recipe and nutritional compliance.
  • Experience with industrial kitchen equipment and basic equipment to include ovens, grills, and kitchen utensils and tools i.e., weighing, measuring, mixing, thermometers, and others.
  • Knowledgeable of and demonstrates Knife Safety and the use of cutting gloves. Able to maintain cleanliness of work areas and equipment and assist the team to meet standards.
  • Able to meet sanitary requirements. Able to support the direction of management and perform as a resource to orient and train others.
  • Demonstrates the ability coordinate and lead hourly team members toward established goals. Able to perform the duties of others in the department.
  • May have knowledge and understanding of all aspects of food safety and HACCP.
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service and demonstrate appropriate professional communication with patients, customers and the Food and Nutrition Team. Ability to interact and lead with mutual support.
  • Able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment and respond to changing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication is essential.
  • Able to comply with hospital policies and HIPAA and maintain patient confidentiality.
Educational Requirements
  • Minimum: High school diploma
  • Preferred: Some college courses or management classes
  • Other: Food Safety Certified, Certified Dietary Manager
Experience Required
  • 2 or more years' experience with leadership or management responsibilities in a restaurant or food service setting.
  • Preferred 5 or more years' experience with leadership or management responsibilities in a restaurant, food service or Healthcare setting.
Educational Requirements
  • Minimum: High school diploma
  • Preferred: Some college courses or management classes
  • Other: Food Safety Certified, Certified Dietary Manager
Licensed Required
  • Food Safety Certified
