WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Assist Controller to implement and maintain systems, procedures, and policies directly relating to all functions within accounting to ensure adherence to company, GAAP, and tax guidelines
  • Review, analyze and ensure the accuracy of the business unit financials each month; Verifies all cash receipts and wire transfers are recorded and supported properly and investigate and correct discrepancies
  • Responsible for continuous process improvement within multifamily operations; analyze options for improved operations and processes
  • Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget. Analyze variances to ensure all transactions are coded correctly and accurately; work with property managers to minimize mistakes and make recommendations for improvements to next year's budget
  • Oversee general ledger accounts, including review of journal entries and detailed monthly review and analysis of reconciliations of balance sheet accounts
  • Troubleshoot accounting issues and questions; provide guidance to property managers on corrective action and make recommendations for process improvement
  • Assist Controller with yearend audits and HUD filings including preparation of schedules and documentation while working closely with 3rd parties
  • Maintain fixed assets depreciation software for the multifamily properties
  • Assist Controller in preparation of the multifamily operations accounting annual budget
  • Demonstrate discretion and use independent judgement when acting as liaison between company, governmental, external accountants, and insurance companies to meet informational needs necessary to make critical business decisions
  • Maintain historical financial data ensuring it is readily available upon request
REQUIREMENTS
  • Four-year degree in Accounting
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel required
  • Experience with Yardi preferred
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships internally and externally
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
