GENERAL SUMMARY: To manage patient experience projects and activities for UAB Health System Clinics and Health Service Foundation (HSF). Develop strategy and implement systems to improve the ambulatory patient experience and engagement. Work collaboratively within the Office of Patient Experience and Engagement (OPXE). With direction from OPXE leadership, this position supports, coordinates and executes initiatives to enhance the UAB Health System’s strategy to become a top performing health system for patient experience and engagement. This position serves as a content expert and leader for patient experience and engagement for the UAB Health System Clinics and Health Service Foundation (HSF). KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves as a subject matter expert for Ambulatory Patient Experience. Creates strategy and implements plans to improve the Ambulatory experience. Works collaboratively with organizational leaders, staff, and physicians/faculty to assist in implementation efforts. Identifies industry-wide best practices related to Patient Experience improvement efforts. Analyzes and interprets patient experience data to identify trends, successes, and opportunities for improvement. Assists in tracking patient experience projects and activities for Ambulatory and HSF. Coordinates and supports patient experience improvement teams and committees. Rounds on patients and teams to learn patient experience best practices and opportunities for improvement. Creates patient experience journey maps and patient experience blueprints. Assists with teaching and training teams on patient experience tools, tactics, and strategies. Oversees the Patient Experience Advisor(s). Performs other duties as assigned in support of Office of Patient Experience and Engagement efforts across UAB Medicine. Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in related field and five (5) years related health care experience required. Clinical experience preferred. Master’s degree in related field preferred. Experience working with and a strong understanding of patient experience and engagement data. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) required. Must possess effective communication, facilitation, and group presentation skills. Must be able to navigate a large and complex organization. Familiarity with Evidence Based Leadership or other culture change strategies preferred. Lean Six Sigma training or similar Performance Improvement training is preferred but not required. IDEAL CANDIDATE: Exhibits collaboration and teamwork. Possesses creativity in problem solving.
