POSITION SCOPE

This position will assist and support the organization’s Executive Director and Director of Programs in day-to-day administrative operations of the nonprofit, as well as implement marketing and event-planning activities aimed at both raising the overall profile of Beginnings SC in the local community and across the state and increasing organizational capacity. Beginnings SC serves families of children who are deaf or hard of hearing, as well as professionals that work with these families.

Beginnings SC is a small but rapidly growing nonprofit that serves a wide range of people across the state. Applicants/employees must be able to work as a member of a team, possess excellent interpersonal skills, and be detail oriented. As with most nonprofits, the position is expected to continue indefinitely but is always dependent on the availability of funding.

RESPONSIBILITIES Collaboratively plans programming and provides trainings and technical assistance to child care centers and other agencies and community groups relating to hearing loss

Maintains, staffs, coordinates, and facilitates committee and exhibiting activities, including coordinating, training, and supervising, if necessary, service volunteers and community partners, to increase engagement and support of Beginnings SC services and programming

Spearheads and engages in hearing loss awareness initiatives and outreach through exhibiting, training, speaking, and other awareness campaigns as developed by seeking out applicable exhibiting opportunities, scheduling, registering, and preparing materials

Oversees overall Beginnings SC outreach efforts and assists in establishing measurable performance goals

Networks, maintains, and cultivates partnerships with child care centers, community health organizations, other community organizations, as it relates to the department’s activities and enhancing prospects for Deaf and Hard of Hearing children and their families

Maintains a database of those in attendance at events and trainings in accordance with Endeavors and Beginnings SC standards and reports on outreach and community engagement to stakeholders and partner agencies

Maintains a working knowledge of Beginnings SC services, community supports, and hearing loss to share with agencies and public through exhibiting and community events

Coordinates, facilitates,and participates in community events, programs, and other forums to promote Beginnings SC mission, Beginnings SC programs, and hearing loss awareness

Provides appropriate and timely recognition to all event partners, including letters and any other written communication to relay the importance of their participation to the mission and service of Beginnings SC

Coordinates and implement all aspects of Beginnings SC’s special events and activities

Assists and supports on other existing projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

● Associate’s degree required ● Must possess exceptional phone and written communication skills ● At least 2-3 years’ experience with some or all the following: volunteer management, committee management, event coordination, communications, and/or fundraising ● Demonstrated excellence in writing, organizational, managerial, and communication skills ● Experience and proficiency using current technology tools that support all communications activities, including Google Drive, Microsoft Office Suite, email marketing services such as MailChimp, and graphic design programs such as Canva or Photoshop ● Self-directed and able to work independently and as part of a team ● Proven time management skills and ability to balance multiple tasks efficiently while meeting deadlines ● Flexibility and an ability to alter course quickly in response to new information ● Ability to track data and complete reports accurately ● Professional demeanor, adherence to the rules of confidentiality, and respect for clients and volunteers ● A commitment to support the Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging initiatives of the organization when performing the duties of the position as assigned.
