Job Summary
The Summer Program and Outreach Coordinator will coordinate and administer summer programming and outreach efforts developed to engage teachers and underrepresented middle and high school students with learning opportunities in agriculture, natural resources, and related sciences. This position will establish key partnerships with community-based programs, middle schools, and high schools across the state of Indiana. The coordinator will serve as a key contact for coordinating departmental and university engagement in programs stemming from the Office of Multicultural Programs.

What You'll Be Doing:
Lead the administration, coordination and implementation of the Purdue Agribusiness Science Academy Summer Institutes
Administer, plan and implement pre-recruitment strategies to increase the participation of underrepresented middle and high school students across Indiana in the Purdue Agribusiness Science Academy
Administer, plan and implement strategies to increase the participation of science teachers across Indiana in the Purdue Agribusiness Science Academy
Engagement university and departmental representatives in participating in the Purdue Agribusiness Science Academy
Develop new and innovate existing summer programs to support outreach efforts
Collaborate closely with the Assistant Director for Undergraduate Recruitment and Early Outreach and Initiatives Coordinator, Office of Academic Programs, and Agricultural Communications to coordinate marketing and recruitment for summer programs
Oversight of on-campus housing and transportation of summer programs
Collaborate closely with the Assistant Director for Student Recruitment and Retention, Office of Multicultural Programs, Assistant Director for Undergraduate Recruitment and Early Outreach and Initiatives Coordinator, Office of Academic Programs, and Agricultural Communications to coordinate college pre-recruitment efforts that focus on key audiences based upon college recruitment and enrollment goals
Coordinate the development of Jr. MANRRS Chapters within key community-based organizations or high schools throughout Indiana
Serve as an active member of the Core Recruitment Team
Support the Associate Dean & Director of Multicultural Programs and Assistant Director for Student Recruitment and Retention in College of Agriculture initiatives and activities, as needed
Perform other duties which contribute to the College of Agriculture and Office of Multicultural Programs
What We're Looking For:
Bachelor’s degree
2 years of experience working directly with middle or high school students
In lieu of degree, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required experience (Associate's degree + 4 years of experience; HS/GED + 6 years of experience)
Experience coordinating, developing and implementing educational events and programs for diverse audiences
Experience mentoring and supporting students from underrepresented or diverse backgrounds
Strong written, verbal, organizational, and leadership skills
Excellent public relations skills with the ability to address and engage small and large groups of diverse constituent groups of students, families, and internal and external partners
Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external partners
Independent problem-solving and judgment skills
Basic skills in Microsoft Office
Ability to travel and work some nights and weekends
Valid US or Canadian driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within forty-five days of hire

Nice to Have:

Experience with individuals who have directly developed programs to increase participant interest in agriculture, natural resources, and related sciences
Experience developing partnerships with community organizations and schools
