The Department of Finance & Procurement is responsible for ensuring that the county's financial management and accounting systems are maintained appropriately and that county agencies and the public receive information in a timely manner. The Division of Accounting, Finance and Operations manages internal auditing and compliance, financial accounting, financial and budgetary reporting, internal controls, payroll, and accounts payable.

Job Summary

The Loudoun County Operations division is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical individual to join our Finance and Operations team as an Accounts Payable Accountant II. The Accounts Payable section processes all County supplier payments in compliance with the Virginia Prompt Payment Act and manages all mandated processes and reporting for accounts payable transactions.

Under the general supervision of the Accounts Payable Supervisor, this position will be responsible for, but not limited to:

* Reviewing accounts payable transactions
* Validating and processing 1099s
* Processing supplemental payments
* Interfacing invoices into Oracle from other departmental systems
* Reconciling prepayments
* Performing redistributions
* Research and analysis
* System testing and data validation
* Interdepartmental coordination
* Creating meeting agendas and presentations
* Training accounts payable users
* Documenting standard operating procedures

The ideal candidate will possess a keen attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in all tasks. Collaboration is key, as this position will work closely with a variety of team members to achieve common goals. The ability to cultivate relationships, both internally and externally, will drive success in this role. Additionally, you'll be responsible for developing/updating a comprehensive training program, documents, and policies, leveraging analytical skills to assess and address organizational needs effectively. This is a hybrid position with some telework opportunities.

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; two (2) years of related work experience, preferably in a government accounting setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
