The Department of Finance & Procurement is responsible for ensuring that the countys financial management and accounting systems are maintained appropriately and that county agencies and the public receive information in a timely manner. The Division of Accounting, Finance and Operations manages internal auditing and compliance, financial accounting, financial and budgetary reporting, internal controls, payroll, and accounts payable. 

Job Summary

The Division of Accounting, Finance and Operations is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical individual to join our team as an Accountant. This is a temporary position during the migration from Oracle EBS to Oracle Cloud. The duration of this temporary position is expected to be two years. 

The Accountant will report to the General Ledger Senior Accountant and will be responsible for accounting and reconciliation of the Countys fixed assets, leases, subscriptions. This includes recording additions, adjustments, transfers and dispositions in Oracle and subsidiary systems, and performing quarterly monitoring activities in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and assisting with the annual audit, year-end close and financial reporting process. Additional responsibilities include recording and reconciling tax revenues, providing support for ad-hoc analysis, preparing journal entries, researching, collaborating cross departmentally on complex project issues, and preparing work papers and analysis to support the completion of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and contributing to other department areas as needed or assigned.

This is a hybrid position with some telework opportunities.

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience. 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in accounting or related field; three (3) years of related work experience in professional level accounting, preferably in a government accounting setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA, CPFO, and VGFOA certification and completion of GAAP courses preferred. Experience working with a major ERP system such as Oracle is preferred.
