Summary The Smithsonian Institution is the world’s largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is located in the National Museum of Natural History (NMNH) is a major bureau of the Smithsonian Institution that is responsible for the acquisition, curation, and preservation of collections of objects and specimens of natural history and zoology. Responsibilities The Management and Program Analyst (Workforce Development) acts as a crucial advisor to the Director, Deputy Director, and Associate Director of Operations and offer expertise in talent acquisition, strategic planning, and various human resource programs including employee relations, training, and workforce development. In this position, you will: Optimize training funds for annual organizational needs assessment and authorizing staff training requests. Acts as the primary liaison and document preparer for Museum grievances, discrimination and harassment complaints, disciplinary and adverse actions, performance-based actions, accommodation requests, and ethics matters. Support managers and supervisors by providing counseling to employees regarding work-related or personal issues. Lead the development of Employee Engagement activities and programs for the Museum. Qualifications Experience: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal Service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as: Researching and interpreting advanced HR principles, concepts, and practices related to all aspects of employee and labor relations programs. Serving as an expert in workforce management, development and other associated business functions such as capacity planning, onboarding, developing, and recognizing employees; AND Supervising, assigning work, and evaluating work performance of subordinate employees. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Part-time and/or unpaid experience related to this position will be considered to determine the total number of years and months of experience. Be sure to note the number of paid or unpaid hours worked each week. Education Additional Information This position is not included in the bargaining unit.
