Job Purpose

This position is a senior-level accountant position. Will analyze complex transactions and record appropriate general ledger entries. Will perform advanced accounting concepts, such as the application and compliance of new and existing accounting guidance. Prepare and/or review various internal and external financial reports. Responsible for day-to-day mentoring and supervision of staff members. Support other accounting personnel in general ledger maintenance and month-end close process.

Job Duties
  • Responsible for analyzing complex transactions and record appropriate general ledger entries.
  • Will perform advanced accounting concepts, such as application of new accounting standards or compliance with federal and state income taxes.
  • Must be able to cover and back up in at least three accounting specialty areas other than the primary and back up manager duties if needed.
  • Responsible for various internal and external financial reporting.
  • Serves as the FAR go-to person for accounting specialty related questions and controls for both internal and external associates.
  • Responsible for assisting in drafting sections of earnings release and/or SEC filings.
  • Responsible for presentations within the Accounting group, other lines of business, management, and Board of Directors etc., as needed.
  • Responsible for day-to-day mentoring of staff members and/or provide supervision of other accountants.
  • Will support other accounting personnel in general ledger maintenance and month-end close process.
  • Will perform special projects as assigned.
Education, Experience and Job Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related field from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles from either practical work experience or accounting coursework.
  • Minimum of five years accounting experience in banking or publicly traded company.
  • Possession of professional certification or advanced degree in accounting or finance or related business field that includes accounting or finance. Additional years of work experience in banking may be substituted for certification or advanced degree.
  • Senior-level accountant position.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills - team members, peers, and management.
  • Ability to write clearly, succinctly, with proper grammar in a variety of communication
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, including intermediate-to-advanced-level Excel skills and intermediate Word skills.
  • Proven ability to plan and organize resources to achieve goals.
  • Developed listening, problem solving, and time management skills.
  • Ability to apply advanced accounting concepts and work independently with minimal guidance/supervision.
  • Demonstrate an above average ability to navigate systems, software, and an understanding of policies and procedures
  • Continue professional development through self-training, participation in recommended courses, in-house training, seminars, and/or professional certifications. Annual minimum continuing education requirement of 40 CPE qualified hours.
  • Must be composed under pressure and demonstrate ability to effectively handle conflict.
  • Must be a team player.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of five years accounting experience
