POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Supervise the work of four (4) SOX colleagues based in U.S. and Costa Rica to ensure that SOX management testing in Corporate and the Americas is conducted in line with the agreed-upon approach and deadlines.
  • Oversee yearly SOX scope covering material risk to the financial statements. Present this scope to senior management for approval and align with external auditors (KPMG). Refresh scope at mid-year to ensure impactful changes have been considered.
  • Partner with KPMG on key concerns and/or changes in connection with key SOX controls and underlying processes.
  • Support risk assessment efforts - identify non-financial risks including but not limited to business operations, legal, regulatory, human resources, etc.
  • Work with the business process owners (e.g heads of departments, Finance and Commercial Directors, Plant Controllers) to ensure that all exceptions detected from SOX testing are adequately remediated and re-tested.
  • Create and/or improve SOX controls documentation, including narratives, flowcharts and control descriptions through jointly held walkthroughs with business process owners and KPMG.
  • Provide timely and critical feedback to SOX Senior Management and PMO where testing procedures need to be improved. Identify opportunities to streamline controls and make recommendations to improve the underlying processes.
  • Support for non-established Self-Assessment markets (SAs) in the annual Controls Self-Assessment (CSA) process, among other in updating their local RACMs (Risk And Control Matrixes) and flowcharts.
  • Provide support for reviews performed by the Zoetis Compliance Organization related to investigations connected to internal control infractions.
  • Coordinating periodic SOX refresher sessions for new joiners or in case of control ownership changes (at min. every 6 months).
  • Partner with ZTD Organization with regard to the Global, Risk and Compliance (GRC) application with regard to any required updates to SOX controls or underlying process flows.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience managing colleagues required
  • At least 5 - 7 years of experience in the field of Internal Controls, SOX, Risk and Compliance Internal and/or Financial Audit, preferably with international exposure. "Big 4" experience a strong plus.
  • Graduate with at. min. Bachelor's Degree (preferably in the area of Accounting or Finance)
  • Preferably a Chartered Accountant, CPA or CIA equivalent
  • Fluent Business English in speaking and writing

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

  • Practical experience with SAP, including GRC PC Streamlink and ECC modules
  • Full fluency in MS Office and Excel
  • Experience with HFM, Blackline and Cadency will be a plus
  • Practical knowledge of IFRS/US GAAP
  • Ability to effectively communicate upward, across and downward required
  • Ability to effectively partner with internal and external stakeholders in order to achieve objectives required.

PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

At some point the travel time for this role may be required and scale up to 10%.
