Position Overview

The Senior Mechanical Engineer within the Project Engineering division is tasked with the design and development of innovative pneumatic, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical solutions tailored for a variety of Aerospace clients and platforms. This includes, but is not limited to, reusable commercial launch systems, deep space exploration missions, military aircraft, and hypersonic technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with customer specifications and sub-tier requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams outside of engineering as necessary.
  • Document findings and communicate effectively with relevant stakeholders.
  • Oversee the design and performance evaluation of product components and major assemblies, ensuring alignment with customer requirements.
  • Conduct design analyses, including control systems, component stress evaluations, and thermal assessments.
  • Facilitate the creation of preliminary bills of materials and verify their accuracy.
  • Develop testing requirements and instructions, and manage the release of drawings for development hardware.
  • Provide comprehensive outlines for documentation control, including test procedures and verification matrices.
  • Monitor customer-driven changes and assess their impact on the program.
  • Support other departments and subcontractors with engineering insights.
  • Guide and direct design teams in achieving project objectives.
  • Ensure the precision of all project-related drawings and documents.
  • Manage non-conformance reports and participate in material review board activities.
  • Assist in determining project resources and priorities.
  • Meet critical drawing release timelines.
  • Coordinate technical inputs and approvals for documentation control.
  • Communicate any technical or scheduling issues promptly to management.
  • Lead internal design reviews and incorporate feedback effectively.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • 3-10 years of relevant experience in a high-tech, electro-mechanical environment, particularly within the Aerospace and Military sectors.
  • Familiarity with government procurement processes and quality standards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction across various organizational levels.
  • Proficient in MS Office and relevant engineering software.
  • Expertise in fluid control systems, structural analysis, and thermal management.
  • Experience in the lifecycle management of complex products and systems.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to see, talk, and hear.
  • Frequent use of hands for handling and reaching.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the facility.
  • Occasional lifting of items up to 20 pounds.
