Summary

The Director of Human Resources and Engagement will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of HR and employee engagement within the company. This includes developing and implementing HR strategies that support the company's goals, fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture, and ensuring compliance with all relevant labor laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in HR management, a deep understanding of the unique challenges within the cannabis industry, and a passion for promoting employee well-being and engagement. Responsibilities of this role include:

Strategic HR Leadership
  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with senior management to forecast HR needs and develop workforce plans.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on HR matters to the executive team and department heads.
Employee Engagement and Culture
  • Design and execute initiatives to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture that aligns with the company's values.
  • Develop and oversee programs that support employee well-being, development, and recognition.
Talent Management
  • Lead recruitment efforts to attract and retain top talent.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of effective onboarding programs.
  • Manage performance evaluation processes and develop strategies for employee growth and development.
Employee Relations
  • Address complex employee relations issues and provide guidance on conflict resolution.
  • Act as a liaison between management and employees to foster open communication and trust.
  • Conduct and analyze exit interviews to identify trends and develop retention strategies.
HR Compliance and Policy Management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all sales-related communications.
  • Effectively communicate sales strategies, goals, and performance to the team and senior management.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and client meetings.
  • Ability to communicate with other staff and associates in all situations.
HR Metrics and Analytics
  • Analyze HR metrics and trends to develop proactive solutions for workforce challenges.
  • Prepare and present reports to the executive team on HR initiatives and outcomes.
  • Utilize data to drive decision-making and improve HR processes.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of HR experience, with at least 5 years in a senior HR leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of the cannabis industry and its unique HR challenges.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing HR strategies that drive business results.
  • Excellent knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in HR software and data analysis tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Established network of contacts within the cannabis industry.
  • Passion for the cannabis industry and a commitment to the company's mission and values.
Computers and Technology
  • Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, Teams(with strong Excel skills)

The work environment is primarily office-based, with frequent interaction and communication with employees, management, and external stakeholders. This role may require occasional visits to other company locations, including cultivation sites, production facilities, and retail locations. The office environment is typically quiet to moderate in noise level, with standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The Director of Human Resources and Engagement will occasionally need to attend company events, meetings, and conferences, which may require travel.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear, and must be able to communicate effectively with others. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The role requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 1-2 years of HR, Customer Service, or Cannabis experience; or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to take direction and complete daily tasks with minimal supervision
  • Work location: Onsite
  • Effective planning, organization and time management skills and experience
  • Attention to detail; must process things accurately in a timely fashion
  • Ability to maintain high standards in a fast paced, constantly evolving environment
  • Comfortability with a changing work environment
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Bilingual (Spanish) capability is desired but not required
  • Punctual, professional, and able to communicate clearly with your manager and other staff
  • Must be 21 years old and pass all requirements for state cannabis affiliation
