SUMMARY: The Nevada City School of the Arts (NCSOTA) Procurement Coordinator works with the Nourish Food Services Director, Kitchen Supervisor, Student Engagement Liaison, Production Team, and Local Farmers/Producers to coordinate smooth collaboration in stewarding seasonal, local ingredients for the Nourish NCSA menu items and food programs. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Kitchen Operations Management: Supervise and coordinate receiving of availability lists, deliveries and timely prep/storage rotation of all local items in Nourish inventory. Communicate with all Nourish Team members and local farmers/producers ensuring information is passed timely and appropriately. Supervise and participate in washing, prep, and storage of local products. Participate in menu planning with Food Services Director, Kitchen Supervisor, and Student Engagement Liaison in utilizing available local products. Oversee the cleanliness and organization of local products in the kitchen, ensuring compliance with sanitation standards and regulations. Maintain working knowledge of local product inventory at all times. Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations. Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or electronic form. Staff Participation: Recruit, retain, work collectively with all eligible local growers/producers. Organize and host annual or bi-annual gatherings of local growers/producers to streamline procurement to Nourish NCSOTA. Collaborate with Nourish Food Services Director and Kitchen Supervisor to create SOPs and order guides for local product inventory. Work with Nourish Food Services Director, NCSOTA School Wellness Committee and NCSOTA Admin Staff to plan and host an annual community farmer's market at NCSOTA. Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including food handling, sanitation, and hygiene standards. Establish and maintain positive rel a tio n s w i t h i n ter n a l a n d e x te r n al c u s t o m e r s , i n c l u d ing growers/producers, s t u d e n t s , s t a f f , s c h oo l a d m i n i s trati o n , p a r e n t s , a n d c o mm un i t y m e m b e r s . Read and respond to all forms of school-related communication. Report all unsafe working conditions. Abide by all NCSOTA Employee Handbook guidelines. Completion of mandatory training (video & in-person) within 6 weeks of employment and every year thereafter. Perform all other duties as needed or assigned. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSURE Willingness to learn and work hard Proven experience working in a setting supporting local procurement. Ie: farm/CSA, farmer's market, natural foods co-op, farm-to-table restaurant or institution. Strong culinary skills and knowledge of scratch cooking techniques, food preparation methods, and kitchen equipment operation. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate and collaborate with a diverse team. Familiarity with food safety regulations and certification in food handling and sanitation (e.g., ServSafe). Organizational skills and attention to detail to effectively manage multiple ordering & receiving schedules, menus, and inventory. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
