The NJ Division of Merola Tile employs approximately 130 people and distributes tile in the U.S. and Canada through The Home Depot, independently owned tile showrooms, and numerous e-commerce retailers under the Merola Tile, SomerTile, and Elite Tile brand names. Role and Responsibilities Bring your passion for people, systems, and processes to administer the key day-to-day HR activities of hiring the right team members for our organization and ensuring we maintain and enhance a work environment rooted in the Merola Fundamentals. Drive and support, with strategic guidance from and collaboration with the HR management team, HR activities, including the delivery and support of talent acquisition, benefits, compensation, compliance, employee onboarding and offboarding, performance management processes, policies, safety programs, and other employee life-cycle-related programs. Provide support and guidance to leadership and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances, such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations. Manage leaves of absence, ensuring employees receive proper notification and information about leave and that the proper documentation is maintained for HR to manage the process. Manage the use of the HR systems. Manage HR interactions cross-functionally with other teams as necessary, including Payroll, IT, external legal counsel, and other parts of the company. Ensure confidentiality, accuracy, security, and timely maintenance of HR data. Assist with the planning and implementation of employee training programs. Assist with the planning and implementation of company events. Maintain employee personnel files and other HR documents. Secondary Responsibilities Maintain the company policy manual. Ensure that the manual is up-to-date and available and that written policies are consistent with the true workplace practices. Draft new or amend existing company policies as directed and see that any changes are communicated to employees. Review for accuracy. Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, and human resources and employment law regulatory changes. Promote continuous improvement through leadership, guidance, and education. Perform other tasks and duties as needed and/or requested by management. Qualifications and Education Requirements A minimum of three years of human resource management experience. A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field is required. Strong knowledge of HR practices, state and federal legislation related to employment practices, and general HR administration. Previous experience and proven ability to coach employees and management through complex issues. Skilled in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel). Physical Requirements: Regularly stand/sit for extended periods, operate office equipment, perform light-moderate lifting, lift/move up to 15 lbs. occasionally, bend, twist, and maintain posture.
