Description:

Position Purpose:

Performs clerical duties that support the daily activities of nursing units. Works cooperatively with the nursing staff and other health team members to enhance quality patient care and patient satisfaction. Adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of MercyOne.

What you will Do:
  • Acts as receptionist and assists in-patient care delivery when appropriate.
  • Prepares and maintains patient charts.
  • Assists in admission, transfer, and discharge processing.
  • Schedules treatments, procedures and tests, and arranges for patient transport.
  • Maintains and distributes unit supplies and materials
  • Performs additional duties.
  • Adhere to all safety, infection control and employee health policies and procedures.
Hours/Schedule:

.9 FTE; 72 hours per bi-weekly pay period; 12 hour shifts; will include a weekend and holiday rotation.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Medical Secretary, Medical Administrative Secretary, or Medical Assistant degree preferred.
  • Without Medical Secretary, prefer 3 years experience in a medical office/hospital setting.
  • Mandatory Reporter. BLS required if working in ED. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) within 6 months of hire if working in ED or Mental Health Unit.
  • High language, intermediate math, intermediate reasoning ability.

    •Typing with knowledge of medical terminology; Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

    •Personal computer; mainframe information systems experience preferred, database software.
    •Basic computer experience
