Human Resources Generalist

Our client, a multi-state industrial facility with headquarters located in Erie, has an immediate need for a Human Resources Generalist.
Summary: Responsible for performing HR- related duties on a professional level while working closely with HR Management in supporting designated geographic regions. Additionally, responsible for functional areas such as benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment, affirmative action and employment law compliance.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Administer various HR plans and procedures for all company personnel and policies.
- Participates in the development of department goals, objectives, and systems.
- Monitor the performance evaluation program and revise as necessary.
- Participate in maintaining employee handbook, policies, and procedures manual as needed.
- Perform benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefit information to employees.
- Assist in handling employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, employee coaching, and exit interviewing.
- Evaluate job positions; prepare job descriptions including determining FLSA classification, exempt or non-exempt status, and salary grade.
- Establish and maintain relationships with hiring managers to stay abreast of current and future hiring and business needs.
- Perform searches for qualified candidates according to relevant job criteria, using computer databases, networking, Internet recruiting resources, cold calls, recruiting firms, and employee referrals.
- Screen and refer applicants to hiring personnel in the organization, making hiring recommendations when appropriate.
- Conducts reference checks for all candidates.
- Administer pre-employment process consisting of background checks, drug testing, etc.
- Conduct onboarding and new employee orientations to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives.
- Ensure accuracy of personnel files and employee data in the HRIS system.
- Assist in completing bi-weekly payroll for multiple companies.
- Respond to employee inquiries related to insurance or 401(k) savings plan.
- Verify employee enrollments with HR vendor and plan carriers.
- Responds to verification of employment inquiries.
- Other special projects as assigned.
- Education - Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field required.
- Experience - Bachelor's degree and three to five years Human Resource experience, or a master's degree in Human Resource Management and two years' experience in HR field, or any similar combination of education and experience.
Range for base pay is $56-75k depending on experience. Total compensation package includes full suite of benefits.
