We are seeking an Employee Relations Advisor to serve as a trusted consultant to leaders and team members across Republics footprint to provide guidance on a wide range of employment related issues and ensure appropriate and timely resolution of workplace concerns. You will have the opportunity to use your strong communication skills, sound judgment and ability to diagnose and recommend solutions that are in line with employment-related policies and practices. We place a strong emphasis on collaboration and commitment to quality and confidentiality in our daily work. This position could either be located at our Baton Rouge, LA, Charlotte, NC or Plano, TX office on a hybrid schedule.


More specifically, this roles responsibilities include:

  • Provides consultation, guidance, and coaching to leaders to address employee behavior and performance concerns; provide guidance and assist with the development and delivery of appropriate feedback or corrective/disciplinary actions.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills with an ability to analyze information to identify the root causes of problems and proposing realistic and practical solutions to address them based on knowledge and understanding of the organization and its operating environment.
  • Advises and influences all levels of management around complex employee relations decisions, e.g., performance management, business conduct, terminations, restructuring and policies, guidelines and practices and work closely business leaders to ensure appropriate resolution of all cases.
  • Makes recommendations to leaders to improve work relationships, enhance employee engagement and improve productivity and retention.
  • Assists leaders in the development and implementation of corrective actions and terminations.
  • Conducts thorough, fair, and timely investigations of reported policy violations or grievances. Performs discreet, confidential, and effective interviews with the ability to develop trust with team members to allow for honest and transparent dialogue. Maintains detailed, accurate investigation files.
  • Assists with the review and assessment of termination requests; provides guidance to leaders.
  • Responds to unemployment claims.
  • Proactively researches information to ensure compliance, provides appropriate consultation and avoids/eliminates exposure to the organization.
  • Consults with Employee Relations Manager regularly on open cases.
  • Develops and maintains various departmental reports.
  • Reviews exit interview responses; recommends action if necessary and communicates responses.
  • Acts as an administrator of employee engagement software including reviewing, reporting, replying to, and summarizing trends.
  • Provides training on Employee Relations topics.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent practical experience; HR certification preferred
  • 3+ years of HR generalist experience to include performance management and coaching/advising leaders; significant time spent dealing with ER-related issues including experience conducting investigations and maintaining accurate and detailed investigation files.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), business communications, and excellent file documentation
  • Strong knowledge of pertinent state, federal and local regulatory requirements
  • Travel up to 20%
  • Ability to establish cross-functional relationships and credibility at all levels and geographies
  • Able to communicate empathetically and diplomatically, demonstrating an understanding of each employees specific situation and maintaining high integrity and confidentiality
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to organize and analyze data
  • Capable of applying discretion and sound judgment while leading sophisticated processes, decisions and handling sensitive information
  • Strong customer relationship skills (customer service centric)
  • Exceptional coaching, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Detail-focused; accuracy is critical
  • Prior business writing experience
  • Team-player able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to manage and be accountable for multiple projects and case load within required SLAs or better
  • Critical thinking is important to success in this role
