The Research Program Coordinator position will work independently and in collaboration with teams. The person in this position will be responsible for assist in the design, implementation, and analysis of public opinion research and help coordinate activities related to those efforts. The Research Program Coordinator will work closely with the Program Directors and Administrative Coordinator. This position will engage with a wide range of colleagues. The position requires a thorough understanding of university policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Administrative:
  • Coordinate and participate in collaborator meetings.
  • Communicate with external partners over input, schedules, and activities.
Research:
  • Assist in planning and maintaining a complex schedule of research activities.
  • Program questionnaires and samples into specialized software for survey data collection, and supervise research assistants as they audit the programs.
  • Engage in cognitive pretesting of questionnaires.
  • Apply best practices in questionnaire design to develop new questions.
  • Oversee research projects to ensure that they stay on schedule, assist in identifying solutions to problems when they emerge to ensure projects stay on schedule and that quality is maintained, and supervise research assistants.
  • Use specialized software to oversee fieldwork and data auditing processes.
  • Train teams in quality control procedures used in the lab's research.
  • Conduct audits of various data files to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
  • Develop quality control reports and contribute to other technical reports.
  • On occasion develop and conduct workshops or training sessions in order to increase capacity for survey research among students, project partners, the media, or others.
  • Review written reports for quality (proofreading, formatting, basic analyses).
  • Help coordinate dissemination of research via presentations by team members at various events.
This position reports to the LAPOP Director functionally.

Other:
  • Additional tasks, as needed.
Supervisory Relationships:

The position will have no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and Certifications:
  • A BA or BS degree from an accredited institution of higher education is required.
Qualifications:
  • At least 2 years of relevant training and/or experience is required.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to perform complex tasks and to prioritize multiple projects and competing deadlines is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team setting is required.
  • Knowledge of University policies, processes, and procedures is preferred.
  • Fluency in the Spanish language is required.
  • Experience working on international survey research projects is required.
  • Training and/or experience in cognitive interviewing is required.
  • Experience in software for survey programming is required.
