Description

Becht Engineering BT is currently seeking a highly motivated site/civil Engineer with a minimum of 4-6 years of experience in residential site design who desires a challenging career and increasing responsibilities at our corporate headquarters in Warren, New Jersey.

The successful individual will be working on commercial and multifamily residential projects, serve as a member of a design team, and assist in coordinating site civil designs to meet project objectives, schedules, and budgets, while working directly under licensed Engineers. The position is full-time, and the ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4-6 years of experience in residential site design, with an emphasis on grading, drainage, stormwater management, paving and permitting.

Responsibilities

  1. Perform engineering tasks in the site/civil engineering field through the development of a working knowledge of applicable design criteria, regulatory requirements, standards, and processes.
  2. Demonstrate the ability to work on multiple projects concurrently while being flexible and able to adapt to a changing environment.
  3. Perform site visits, investigation, data collecting, review and interpretation of available site plans, survey mapping and review of agency regulations.
  4. Assist the project managers/senior engineers with the design of grading, earthwork analysis and stormwater management designs.
  5. The successful applicant must possess an in-depth knowledge and understanding of site civil design, permitting and construction plan preparation and be proficient in using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D to create design plans and details.
  6. Prepare cost estimates and specifications based on design drawings.
  7. Preparation of written correspondence including proposals, Site Investigation Reports, Grading and Drainage Reports, paving assessments, and other required reports.
  8. Demonstrate the willingness to expand his/her knowledge base via in-house training and/or self-training.
  9. Work within a design team to develop Site plans using AutoCAD including grading, green infrastructure, trail/pedestrian facilities, erosion & sediment control plans and details, utility distribution systems, potable water system design, sanitary sewer design, stormwater management system design and associated calculations.
  10. Preparation of associated calculations and spreadsheets.
  11. Own transportation and a valid driver's license.

Requirements

Qualifications (Required Skills)
  1. BSCE from ABET accredited civil engineering program.
  2. EIT certification a plus.
  3. 4-6 years site/civil engineering experience with the ability/plan to obtain P.E. license.
  4. Must be fluent in English and have strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  5. Possess the ability to learn and apply new skills quickly and efficiently.
  6. Proficiency with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook is needed.
  7. Proficient in the use of AutoCAD in the development of site, grading and drainage plans.
  8. Demonstrated ability to follow direction in completing design tasks.
  9. The ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  10. Strong organizational skills and critical thinking abilities necessary.
