Position Summary The primary function of a Human Resources Generalist (HRG) is to perform a wide range of HR related duties, including employee relations, performance management, recruitment, pre-employment screenings, onboarding/offboarding, leave administration, policy implementation, and employment law/compliance matters. The HR Generalist reports to the Senior HR Generalist, while also taking direction from the Regional HR Manager(s) who support their designated geographic region(s). Duties & Responsibilities Employee Relations & Performance Management: Advises and coaches employees and managers in response to concerns related to the general work environment, morale, interpersonal conflicts, and employee complaints, including sexual harassment and other forms of alleged inappropriate workplace behavior. Identifies solutions to recurring workplace issues or concerns by collecting/analyzing data as well as relying on personal observation as input into this process. Participates in performance and disciplinary meetings, including termination meetings as required. Invests appropriate time to build relationships with managers by using a service-orientated approach. Builds and maintains effective networks with reliable sources such as professional organizations, academic institutions, and military organizations. Develops strong relationships with the broader HR team. Recruitment Acts as a liaison between hiring managers and external recruiters to ensure timeliness of recruitment process, job requirements, and expectations are clearly understood, and candidates are assessed against appropriate criteria. Represents the employer at trade shows, career fairs, and other events consistent with the employer brand. Develops recruiting strategies that support the achievement of business goals, while growing college, military, and diversity recruiting programs. Responsible for posting and maintaining all job requisitions in the dedicated territory; assists with job description creation and maintenance as necessary. Determines applicant qualifications by interviewing applicants, analyzing responses, verifying references, and comparing. Maintains appropriate confidentiality when utilizing the applicant tracking system. Tracks and reports key metrics designed to measure and predict staffing success. Pre-Employment, Onboarding & Offboarding Assists with the creation of offer letters and works with Compensation Manager and hiring manager to ensure appropriate and competitive offers. Initiates pre-employment screening activities as necessary, including drug testing, background checks, motor vehicle reports (MVRs), and physicals. Oversees the electronic onboarding process (UltiPro) in conjunction with the new hire, hiring manager, and HR/Benefits Coordinator. Supports and facilitates the onboarding process for newly acquired companies. Conducts new hire orientation, offboarding, and exit interviews. Policy, Employment Law & Compliance Stays abreast of GMS policies and updates handbooks as needed. Manages and administers employee leave for the designated territory in accordance with applicable federal and state laws. Researches and maintains awareness of any local and state laws, such as sick leave, voting leave, and jury duty. Participates in policy implementation, training, and adherence. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to support continual improvements. Performs other special projects as assigned. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree emphasis in HR or related field; PHR or SPHR preferred. Minimum of 1-3 years of related work experience. Strong Microsoft Office skills. Demonstrated knowledge of administration and human resources best practices. Knowledge of applicable leave and accommodation laws preferred. Understanding of customer service and flexibility to assist in all areas of the HR Department as needed. Must be able to travel domestically 30%.
