SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Purchasing Manager, the Buyer utilizes the available tools and methods to plan and support the fulfillment of customer orders, working directly with suppliers and cell manufacturing personnel. The Buyer will ensure timely deliveries of quality materials and components for timely execution of customer orders. The Buyer will actively participate in cross-functional teams to ensure a continuous improvement of process, productivity, and delivery of products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Identify procurement needs and trends.

  • Understand interaction of production scheduling and materials flow to achieve required customer delivery.

  • Timely and precise processing of purchase orders.

  • Review, update and maintain replenishment systems.

  • Establish and maintain cost reduction, lead time reduction and inventory reduction programs with suppliers to support company goals.

  • Communication with engineering and quality assurance to interpret and establish technical requirements.

  • Provide solutions for procurement issues that impact production scheduling.

  • Train associates on use of replenishment tools.

  • Maintains a safe working environment by compliance with state and federal safety regulations. Enforces and promotes workplace safety procedures in their departments.

  • Work with Accounting to make sure all invoices are processed correctly and in a timely manner.

  • Supplier Analysis as required.

QUALIFICATIONS and COMPETENCIES:

  • This position requires the applicant to be a US Person with a US permanent residence. A US Person is a US Citizen or Green card holder.

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in procurement in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience with replenishment systems such as kanban, visual signals, etc.

  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.

  • Strong multitasking and communication skills.

  • Application of ABS / Lean principles in performing tasks.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Knowledge of Military Specs a plus but not required.

  • Experience working with standard office programs and databases including Microsoft programs Power BI.

  • Communication skills to document and report part/supplier issues to team/management.
