Since photons don't feel heat, we can take advantage of existing cryogenic cooling systems, the kind that have been operating at facilities like the Stanford Linear Accelerator (SLAC). And because photons are in fact light, they can move between subsystems at tremendous speed using standard fiber connectivity.

Job Summary:

This position reports to the Superconducting Devices Group. Our group designs, fabricates, and tests components that will be integrated into a complete system. The R&D Engineer, Process, will be focused on fabrication at our partner fabs.

Responsibilities:

Process wafers/coupons in various cleanroom processes, including lithography (liftoff and electron beam), etch, thin film deposition, metallization, clean, and metrology (ellipsometry, SEM, TEM, etc.) at an external fab.

Conduct data analysis, prepare presentations, and document your work.

Provide hands-on support in the fabrication facility as needed.

Coordinate timely resolution of process challenges in the fab.

Drive weekly wafer output and shipment.

Verify equipment start up & equipment qualification.

Work with external fab to improve number of turns and increase output (cycle time reductions, steps simplifications, combine processes, yield improvements, improve variability & uniformity).

Experience/Qualifications:

Sc., M.Sc., or Ph.D in Physical Sciences or Engineering.

3+ year of R&D experience with process development with emphasis on process integration. For instance, development of a new process flows, integration of new modules in a process flow, or optimization of a process flow.

Proficient with JMP or similar data analysis tool.

Effective communication and detailed documentation.

Base pay is only one part of the total compensation package. Full time roles are eligible for equity and benefits. Base pay is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
