ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Orangewood Foundation's Project CHOICE, Creating Healthy Opportunities & Inspiring Change through Empowerment, was launched in October 2018, with our Drop-in Center opening January 2019. Partially funded by Orange County Social Services Agency (SSA), Project CHOICE provides specialized support and services to youth ages 11-21, impacted by or at-risk of human trafficking in Orange County, CA. Hours of operation Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 9:30am - 6pm and Tuesday, Thursdays 11:30am - 8pm; and one Saturday a month from 12-4pm.

Our model of service provision is supported by nationally recognized best practice frameworks for working with Commercially Sexually Exploited Children (CSEC), including Trauma-Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction and Survivor Centered, and Empowerment strategies. The team at Project CHOICE tailor their supportive services, safety plans and case plans through a strength-based approach, taking into consideration the unique individual experiences of the youth's exposure to exploitation and any other factor placing them at-risk. Starting from where the youth is at, we support the youth in taking manageable, self-directed steps towards their goals, with an understanding that healing and recovery is not always a linear process.
