Job Posting Summary:

The Campus Safety Coordinator serves to augment the efforts of both Ensworth security & facility teams. The Campus Safety Coordinator will collaborate with all stakeholders in an effort to provide a safe and secure environment for Ensworth's students, employees, and visitors. The Campus Safety Coordinator investigates any incident that could jeopardize the overall safety and security of students/staff. Additionally, the Ensworth Campus Safety Coordinator is often the first line of customer relations with students, employees, and visitors; the ideal candidate will effectively provide top level security with a customer service focus. Current shift being hired for is Monday - Friday 1:30pm to 10pm on Frist Campus.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
  • Abides by Ensworth's Employee Handbook and Code of Conduct
  • Commits to the ideals expressed in Ensworth's Mission Statement, Vision Statement, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Statement
  • Conducts security inspections to deter criminal and delinquent activities
  • Checks general security of all Ensworth property (i.e. windows, doors, gates)
  • Creates and fosters a setting that is safe, with a focus on prevention and early intervention strategies
  • Conducts safety equipment inspections to ensure compliance (i.e. fire extinguishers, elevators, natatorium chlorine levels, etc.)
  • Conducts daily facility inspections to augment maintenance team efforts
  • Escorts campus visitors, contractors and vendors as needed
  • Helps coordinate vendor deliveries upon arrival
  • Assists with student supervision during afternoon school clubs and dismissal process at Red Gables campus
  • Assists with pre-trip inspections on Ensworth bus fleet as needed
  • Coordinates special event set up procedures
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively and use de-escalation strategies prior to or in lieu of use of force
  • Educates all stakeholders on security related measures
  • Interacts with students, employees, and visitors on a daily basis to build positive relationships
  • Assists with any implantation of school safety initiatives
  • Helps coordinate with other agencies when crisis situation occurs
  • Helps facilitate emergency drills in conjunction with appropriate local agencies
  • Provides high visibility and accessibility to Ensworth students, employees, and visitors in all buildings as well as throughout on campus events
  • Understands and implements the incident command structure
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Experience:
  • Shall be a U.S. citizen
  • Shall be at least (21) years of age
  • Shall possess a valid driver's license
  • Shall possess a High School Diploma or GED (required). Bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred)
  • Shall have no felony convictions
  • At least (3) years of experience in a related field required (law enforcement, military, security). Prior experience in a school environment is preferred.
  • Shall have intermediate technical competencies and ability to use computers and technology such as Microsoft Windows and Office products, basic office equipment, mechanical equipment, etc.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with all constituents in a school environment, including students, co-workers, parents, alumni, volunteers, and the public.
  • Must be willing to wear designated campus safety uniform & maintain all assigned equipment
  • Must successfully complete background screening and verification
  • Continued Education Programs (as required by Grade Level and/or position) - Periodically participate in different training sessions identified by you, the employee and/or Divisional Leadership/Supervisor with the goal of keeping our teachers and staff up to date with current teaching methods, practices and any new knowledge in their respective field. Dependent on the program, such training may need to take place outside of normal working hours and/or in the summer months.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
  • Regularly works in standard office or classroom conditions and climate and regularly outdoors in varying weather conditions and climate
  • Regularly uses close and distance vision; ability to observe individuals and scenarios from various distances
  • Consistently moves around campus throughout the day; infrequently works at a desk for extended periods of time; occasionally positions oneself on the ground or contorts body to address any safety or security threats
  • Ability to move items weighing up to 50 lbs. across the campus
  • Sometimes works in a stressful environment, effectively dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts; demonstrates stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions
  • Regularly works flexible hours and overtime to support before and after-school or weekend events
  • Ensworth requires employees to be physically present on campus, with limited exceptions that are at the sole discretion of the School. Under extraordinary circumstances, some or all of the workforce may be required to move to a remote working environment. Additionally, certain individuals may also be approved for limited remote work, based on the nature of the job description, specific circumstances, and only with written prior approval by a direct supervisor.
