Position Overview

The Campus Security Specialist (Armed) is responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment by adhering to all institutional guidelines and policies.

Essential Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Valid driver's license
  • Successful completion of a psychological evaluation as per state regulations
  • Passing a comprehensive background check

Desirable Qualifications

  • Training in law enforcement and/or security protocols

Physical Requirements

Must be capable of performing physical tasks, including running and lifting, as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Uphold the mission of Lincoln Memorial University by engaging with faculty, staff, students, and the broader community.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of firearms and self-defense techniques.
  • Foster positive working relationships within the university community.
  • Participate in university committees as needed.
  • Conduct regular security patrols of the campus facilities.
  • Ensure the security of keys and access points.
  • Complete required training for new employees.
  • Document and report incidents and crimes accurately.
  • Maintain records of crime statistics and incidents in the RMS system.
  • Address any observed policy violations promptly.
  • Report maintenance and grounds issues through daily activity logs.
  • Enforce traffic regulations and issue citations as necessary.
  • React swiftly and calmly in emergency situations, determining the appropriate course of action.
  • Maintain certification in Emergency Response protocols.
  • Compile daily activity reports and incident documentation.
  • Adhere to the officer code of conduct as outlined in the Faculty/Staff Policy Manual.
  • Complete necessary institutional and program accreditation reports.
  • Exhibit professionalism in appearance and conduct while performing duties.
  • Maintain annual security recertification as mandated by the state.
  • Operate and maintain law enforcement equipment effectively.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
